MISSION AND HISTORY

Evangelical Assembly of God Church in London - Alpha Church - its church in London, was inaugurated in January 1972. At the time, the Portuguese immigrant, Samuel Ramos Pereira, son of the late Pastor Rogério Pereira, a Minister who had many affinities with the Brazilian Assembly of God Church, opened the work at 141 Harrow Road, where he rented a space from an English Assembly of God Church. In the beginning, there were 19 people, there were many struggles, but blessings also came. Samuel Pereira had the cooperation of several workers and pastors, especially Elder Vasco Carapeto.

Missionaries Dr. Colin Bolker and his wife Dr. Margaret Bolker, who today rest in the arms of their father, cooperated in the beginning of this work as well as with Apostle Ernani Lara, when he had to assist a sister who had come from Portugal to care for her grandchildren. In 2002, the then Pastor Carlos Alves transferred the pastorate of the Church to Apostle Ernani Robertson Lara, through a missionary cooperation agreement with the Church and the Ministry of Leiria, Portugal, receiving a patrimony of 11 members in communion and 8 congregants.

In July 2006, the church welcomed Pastor Moacir Lara Neto, who returned from the Bible Institute in Portugal after two years of full-time study. He was then installed as Pastor of the Vauxhall Church and now serves as Executive Vice President, thus providing a new boost to activities. We also have a congregation in Woking with about 40 people and another in Rugby, also with about 40 people. Currently, we have about 295 members and about 110 regular congregants, as well as a growing number of irregular congregants. Today we have an average monthly attendance of 780, when in January 2002 there were only 65. To God be all glory. As proof of the grace and mercy of the Lord, about 7,162 people have already accepted Christ as Savior or returned to Christ in these last six years. Glory to God, as a fruit of the evangelistic vision of our Senior Pastor, in 2011 alone we have had about 234 conversions and to date we have baptized more than 300 people who went down into the waters and many with the Holy Spirit and with fire. To God be all glory.

On January 5, 2013, we began another new work in the City of Rugby, which is traditional for having surfed there the Sport that bears its name, that is, "Rugby". In this first service, we had about 33 people, of which 28 were already evangelicals but had distanced themselves from the ways of the Lord and had been serving the Lord in the house of Pastor Maria Price. Together with her brother, Brother Paulo Torres, they found us to take over this group of brothers of Portuguese, Mozambican and South African origin. All praise to God. On February 16, we began holding our services in our own headquarters, which received the name: TENT OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD

God has been bringing us to central London since 2015, where we celebrate the Lord in a beautiful auditorium at Pimlico Academy. Come be with us, we are your Brazilian evangelical church in London.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which occurred in 2020/2021, brought us much hardship, leading to the abandonment of hundreds of members and congregations. We are fighting and praying that this situation will be quickly resolved and that we will see the growth of the Lord's work once again. Let us pray.
